Randy Orton is a Team Player

Find out why Orton is the WWE's current MVP after the jump.

Of the WWE's "big three" (John Cena, CM Punk & Randy Orton), Orton has been given the backburner as of late.  It almost appears as if the WWE has had no idea what to do with him for months now.  Though amidst it all, he has turned in some admirable performances.  Randy has not been given credit for this over the years due to his past attitude issues, but he is a team player.  Last night he was inserted into a match with CM Punk and went out of his way to turn in a terrific match even though he has to be a bit envious of Punk's position right now as top heel (a position that Randy has always thrived in).  If you look back at the past year, Punk isn't the only one who's come out looking stronger after having worked with Orton.  Mark Henry and Wade Barrett have both been elevated and are now main event talents.  Alberto Del Rio looked like a legitimate threat again after being able to earn a tap out victory over The Viper.  The Champion, Sheamus has much needed credibility in his title run after adding Orton to his list of defeated opponents.  Soon, Dolph Ziggler (fresh off a pair of big wins over Jericho and Orton) will more than likely reap the greatest reward.  It's safe to say that the road may not even stop there.  In the prime of his career, Orton has emerged as a mature and proven veteran who can turn in a five star match at any given moment and who could be inserted into the title scene whenever they feel it needs him.  He is both a superior worker and carries himself like a top star with nothing left to prove.   This is rarefied air.  These types of superstars come a dime a dozen.  The types where wins and losses aren't as effective as a great performance.  He doesn't need to win anymore.  He has joined the likes of Shawn Michaels, Triple H and Chris Jericho who've all been used in a similar fashion.  It's his duty now to help the next wave of performers and he's doing a fine job.  He may not be the top scorer anymore, but he's got my vote for team captain.
