WWE Monday Night Raw: 10/22/2012

One of the best matches of the year highlights an otherwise dull episode.

Last night's Raw should serve as proof that three hour affairs do nothing to enhance the viewing experience (with the exception of PPVs).  As per usual, most of the show was made up of filler segments and pointless GM angles and the night's true MVP's are workhorses like Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, CM Punk, Sheamus, Antonio Cesaro, Justin Gabriel, Rey Mysterio, Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow.  All of these men turned in solid performances with Bryan and Ziggler in particular giving us a four star show stealer that damn near blew the roof off the place.

I for one would gladly trade in the first hour of the show for more matches like this and less of the meaningless replay videos and things of that nature.  I'm finding it a bit of a chore to watch many episodes and don't get me wrong, when they're good, they're very good, but six ep's out of ten drag like all hell.  In spite of everything, there was some very good buildup to HIAC on Sunday (save for the IC title match) and the WWE title match in particular will no doubt have everyone on the edge of their seats.  I'm not sure how many people will empty their pockets for what really has become a one match show, but they've done a terrific job building Ryback and it wouldn't ruin everything if his first loss came at the hands of the WWE Champion in the main event of one of the bigger PPVs of the year.

Win or lose, I'm glad I'm not CM Punk right now.  It'd be hard to sleep until after Sunday

  1. Yeah..it was a pretty boring RAW but like you said, the match between Dolph and D bryan was really good. You summed it up perfectly.
