Making The Case For Cena Vs. Orton At TLC
At TLC, these two legends will write quite possibly the final chapter to their decade long rivalry.
John Cena and Randy Orton were seemingly born to be rivals. Ever since both men landed down in OVW, they were instantly put into direct competition with one another. In the beginning, it was Orton who impressed officials and was deemed "the future of the WWE". As the years went by however, personal issues and immaturity kept Orton from becoming "the man" and it was Cena who in the end won over the audience and became the poster boy of the promotion for the past decade.

WWE PPV Review: Survivor Series 2013
This year's event brought the attention back to the style of match that made it famous.
This year's Survivor Series event took place in my hometown of Boston, so you know I just had to be there. I had the pleasure of being front row behind the announce table and smack-dab in the middle of one of the most intense atmospheres of my time as a wrestling fan. Fans here in Beantown are as vocal and opinionated as anywhere else in the world and most of all we love our rasslers. Top talents like John Cena and Randy Orton often find themselves in enemy territory here while underdog grapplers like Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins receive a hero's welcome. It makes being a part of this audience feel like being at WrestleMania every time. That being said, was the WWE's 27th Survivor Series event one to remember? Find out after the jump!

NJPW PPV Review: King Of Pro Wrestling 2013
Okada-Tanahashi Part VI: MOTY?
I've been a huge fan of the wrestling scene in Japan for just under a decade now, but when I first started this blog, I centred most of my writing around the WWE's product. The reason being that my knowledge for the promotion's history ran much deeper at the time. Since 2009 though, I've been consistently following along with New Japan Pro Wrestling and I've slowly been leaning more in their direction as far as my overall superfan status goes. Last year, the company made their iPPV debut with the now classic "King Of Pro Wrestling" event and it blew the wrestling landscape to bits with everyone claiming NJPW to be the best wrestling promotion on the planet Earth. So I then figured that there would be no better moment to begin reviewing their shows with their much more accessible product. In the year that followed, Kazuchika Okada replaced CM Punk as my current favorite active pro wrestler and Hiroshi Tanahashi has been the biggest magnet of praise in my writing with his consistently brilliant performances. The rivalry between Okada & Tanahashi has been nothing short of spectacular and thus far in 2013 alone, one of their matches has already earned a five star rating from me. With that kind of acclaim, you'd be a broke smark to bet against them when they clashed for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in their biggest matchup to date. Ladies & gents, it is my honor to review such an epic encounter, but to get there we'll have to drudge through what could be New Japan's weakest iPPV offering since their breakthrough began just 365 days prior. Find out how this event ranks among their other efforts after the jump!

A Whole Family Of Show Stealers
The Rhodes Dynasty triumphs in the feel good moment of the year.
I won't be doing a full review of Battleground because frankly, there really isn't much to say about the show as a whole. A slew of predictable outcomes and a horrid ending to the main event may have many calling their local cable company and requesting a refund, but for me, there was only one reason to throw down your dollar to begin with.

Randy Orton: A Not So Transitional Champion
Orton has been on the roll of his career as of late.
When Randy Orton cashed in his Money In The Bank contract to become WWE Champion last month at Summerslam, I like everyone else thought that his title run would just serve the purpose of getting the title back on Daniel Bryan in the most impactful way possible. What I didn't realize is that Orton may very well turn in the most amazing mini-run in the history of the business.

WWE Monday Night Raw: 8/26/2013
AJ Lee's "Pipebombshell" had fans buzzing.
On this past Monday's RAW the feud of the year continued as CM Punk took his personal war against Paul Heyman even further when he beat Heyman's newest protégé Curtis Axel for a chance to go one on one with his former mentor. AJ Lee cut what is possibly, the promo of the year and Daniel Bryan's quest for the WWE title saw him come face to face with the McMahon brand of justice. Here are the highlights from the 1057th edition of Monday Night Raw live from the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, AZ:Breaking Punk
CM Punk and road wife Kofi Kingston were caught lurking around a place very familiar to fans of AMC's hit series Breaking Bad. The home featured in this photo belongs to none other than the infamous Walter White. I don't know about any of you, but I wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of Heisenberg's wrath. And even though they may have "mysteriously disappeared" come next week, this is still one hell of an awesome photo.

The 23rd NJPW G1 Climax Review
2013's biggest tournament may very well be the all-time best.
For those of you who still haven't hopped a ride on the New Japan train just yet, there isn't much more I can say at this point about the level of greatness you are missing out on. No other wrestling promotion in history has been able to put forth a better combination of glorious panache and superb quality and with this tournament they've managed to elevate nearly every wrestler involved to a level twice as high as the were going in. In part one of my G1 coverage, I explained some of the rules and left you all with an idea of the current rankings at that time. What follows next is an accessible recap of all nine events each with a final score and a few highly recommended matches. So read on puro fans, chances are, you already know where I'm going with this.

NJPW PPV Review: Dominion 2013
New Japan delivers another stellar iPPV.
In my month long hiatus from writing I came very close to losing interest in pro graps for the time being. As a huge WWE fan, the lack of any real compelling storylines had left me feeling a bit let down & burnt out. Thank the Lord for New Japan Pro Wrestling! With their latest iPPV outing, they've re-ignited my interest in the sport and continue their run as the undisputed king of the wrestling landscape. That being said, I'm sure many of you would like to see how Dominion ranks amongst some of 2013's all-time shows like Wrestle Kingdom & Invasion Attack. The wait is over G9Z Wrestling fans because my full review of NJPW Dominion 2013 is waiting for you after the jump!

WWE PPV Report: Extreme Rules 2013
Triple H & Brock Lesnar main event the WWE's most brutal PPV event of the year.
Last year's Extreme Rules was the first ever PPV hailed a "classic event" since the blog's creation. It was a show that had many memorable matches and was highlighted by a particularly cringe worthy main event between John Cena and Brock Lesnar. This year's effort had the near impossible task of following the work the WWE superstars put forward when they collided in that all-time show in Chicago. Could they top last year's spectacle? Did HHH/Lesnar III live up to all the hype? Find out in my quick review of WWE Extreme Rules 2013 after the jump!

The G9Z Wrestling Honor Roll: Class Of 2009
Welcome to another edition of the HONOR ROLL. Every year during my "Year End Awards" I give out roughly 15 awards. Of those awards, "the big four" are the Wrestler, Woman, Tag Team & Match of the year. The winners of these awards were generally the most awesome performers of the year and with hundreds of prominent wrestlers worldwide, it's a true honor to be able to snag one of the four. This section of the blog will be dedicated to the winners for every year dating all the way back to 1990 (roughly the time I first began watching wrestling)! Every week I will add another year's winners until the database is up to date. This is just a fun series that will give you an idea of what the best of the best was in any year you may have missed. Any current and/or future winners will also be added to the honor roll and join the most prestigious group in all of blogging!

NJPW PPV Report: Dontaku 2013
New Japan's worst show of the year is still leagues ahead of what everyone else is putting out.
For the first time in roughly six months, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has released a slightly above average iPPV event. It says a lot about just how amazing the promotion has been as of late if their worst effort still stands as one of the better events of the year thus far. Not going to do one of my traditonal reviews for this one, but here are my ratings for each match:

The Shield: Presence, Unpredictability & Intimidation
Taking a deeper look into one of the best stables in recent memory.
Nearly a year ago, I posted this Great Debate article detailing my three step program to create the next great heel stable in the WWE. I had noted that for me, it was the missing element in the WWE product at the time. It's amazing how quickly things can change. Come November of 2012, The Shield would make their impactful debut, costing Ryback his WWE Championship match at the Survivor Series PPV. Since then, the group has taken apart every major WWE superstar or legend that has crossed their paths. And taking a look at their rise to prominence and current status in the WWE, it's hard to picture anyone being able to take them down.

Some of my answers may surprise you, but I'll explain just why I made my decision and then kindly ask you to leave a comment or hit me up on twitter with your thoughts/picks as to just who is the most deserving of the following awards. Dolph Ziggler won the world title in one of the best moments in RAW history.
New Jersey is always the place to find some of the more colorful citizens of the US, but this week's audience took the cake. You Readers Are Quite The Meme Generators
It's safe to say that I don't find a slogan or popular trend on the Internet more fitting than this one as a representation of the ideals upheld here at G9Z Wrestling. With the general feeling of panic often displayed on forums across the net, I think everyone could use a little R & R. Thanks to reader Will Tierney for this. Just in time for Wrestlemania too.
Anyone else want to send in any fan work, feel free to send to g9zwwe@yahoo.com. I will proudly display it on the site and shout your name from the highest possible mountaintop.
Enjoy yourselves this weekend folks,

A Late Five Star Match From 2012: Kana vs. Ayako Hamada
Joshi standouts Kana & Ayako Hamada competed in what is now one of my favorite matches ever at Shimmer Vol. 50.
If you haven't seen any Shimmer event yet, Vol. 50 would not be a bad place to start. These women always do their damnedest to put out the best wrestling product in the world and this show was no different. Highlighted by a dream match that saw one of my favourite wrestlers in the world today Kana, square off against a woman I don't hold very far behind, Ayako Hamada. I have been waiting to get my hands on this match since I got wind of it last year and unfortunately, was not able to view it until recently. These two had an absolutely flawless match that culminated with an ending that damn near brought me to tears. Please do your best to seek this one out. It's one of the best matches I have ever seen. I do not exaggerate. The only negative about this match for me is that I could not have seen it live. If I had, it damn well would have been in the running for MOTY. I was able to add it to the ongoing Top 25 thread though. And it also received a perfect score from me. I do not hand out five star ratings easily, but this is one I feel, is very well deserved. Words can not express how important this match is for the promotion and for the women of wrestling around the world. It was physical, emotional and borderline transcendent.

The Road To Wrestlemania 29: Dolph Ziggler & Kane
Team Tiny Ring Attire & AJ are set to collide with Team Hell No & Kaitlyn this Sunday.
Welcome to the latest addition to my Road To Wrestlemania series! Dolph Ziggler, Big E Langston and AJ Lee have been on quite the roll lately and the hope to take down the trio of Kaitlyn, Daniel Bryan & AJ come Wrestlemania. However, only Ziggs, Bryan and The Big Red Machine have had any real experience at the event. Well, Bryan has much less experience, but we love the little guy so much that we're going to include him just for kicks.
What? Is it because I said kicks? I meant that in the best way possible....what?....
Oh....I see.
Um yeah, we won't be including D-Bry in this one, sorry guys. But I think he'd appreciate it more if we left that whole Wrestlemania XXVIII debacle out. However, if you'd like some insight into just which team has the best shot at winning here, then read on.
The Road To Wrestlemania 29: Randy Orton, Big Show & Sheamus
Could these three get along long enough to topple The Shield?
Welcome to the latest article in my Wrestlemania XXIX preview series! This time around we're going to be taking a look at the team of Randy Orton, Sheamus & Big Show and checking into each man's mindset heading into their big match with The Shield.
CM Punk Tells Smart Marks "F*ck You!"
Peter Rosenberg conducted a series of interviews after the Wrestlemania press conference and CM Punk in particular, had some choice words for smart marks around the world. Even though I review and rate events, I don't consider myself fitting of the "smart" mark label. My optimism and general perspective is a drastic contrast to many here on the Internet and it's something I'm actually very proud of. Nevertheless, the powers that be are probably not going to like much of what Punk had to say here. You can see that interview along with a few questions with John Cena and Mark Henry below:
